Dr. Amarnath Paswan

Amarnath Paswan is Assistant Professor and Assistant Director at the Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, Banaras Hindu University. He has earned his qualifications in B.A. (Hons), M.A. Political Science,M.A. Sociology, Ph.D. in Political Science and has cleared UGC NET/JRF in Political Science, Public Administration, Human Rights & Duties and Sociology. Presently he is working as an executive editor of Indian Journal of Dalit and Tribal Studies. Besides this, he also holds the post of executive and advisory committee member in various jounals and magazines like- Navjyoti, Bodhisatva Mission and Journal of Budha Sanket. Prior to joining BHU, he has served as Assistant Professor, (Department of Political Science) in Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth for five years. He has served as NSS Programme Officer and has won the award of best NSS Officer. He has contributed more than forty papers in various international/ national research journals and edited books. He has delivered lectures and chaired academic session on several occasions. Dr. Amarnath Paswan has a privilege of organising more than 10 International, National Seminars, Workshops and Symposium funded by Ministry of Home Affairs (Govt. of India), ICSSR and UGC. As a researcher of social science he has participated in 12 International, National orientation and refresher courses and workshops sponsored by UNESCO, UNICEF, ICSSR, UGC and various government bodies. Dr. Amarnath Paswan writes regular column in various magazines and participates in T.V. And Radio discussions. His areas of academic interest include Caste/Dalit Studies, Indian Government and Politics. He is also a member of several academic and administration bodies such as Indian Political Science Association, Uttar Pradesh Political Science Association and Human Empowerment and Research Society. Dr. Amarnath Paswan is among one of the most active teacher cum mentor of his centre with the supervision of nearly 32 M.phil. And Ph.D. Researchers. Dr. Amarnath Paswan has also a lot of citations and awards – Rex Karmaveer Global Fellow& Karamveer Chakra Award(Silver),by International Confederation of NGOs(ICONGO),UNO,Diversity Man of the Year,by Bahujan Diversity Mission,New Delhi, 2019.,Neelkanth Samman (Award) as Democracy Defender/Prajatantra Prahari,by Kabir ke log,New Delhi, Rex Karmaveer Global Fellow Award, by International Confederation of NGOs(ICONGO), UNO,, Siksha Ratna award by Yadunandan Sewa Sansthan, Kanpur, Best NSS Programme Officer award by Coordinator, NSS, Banaras Hindu University, Bhim Ratna award by Ambedkar Chetana Parishad, Jharkhand, Rajeev Gandhi National Fellowship award for his doctoral research by UGC, New Delhi. He has just completed a major research project funded by ICSSR, New Delhi.

Dr. Rajesh Paswan is an Associate Professor (Hindi) at the Centre of Indian Languages, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. His area of specialization includes Mediaeval Hindi Poetry, Dalit Literature, Media, and Interdisciplinary Research. Besides his teaching activities, Dr. Paswan is associated with several reputed research journals. He is the Editor of the Integrated Journal of Social Sciences (Delhi) and Indian Journal of Dalit and Tribal Studies (Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh).
His book, Dalit Asmita aur Sant Raidas (2012), is an authentic source to understand the personality and work of the saint poet Raidas. In addition to this authored book, he has edited four books, Sanskritik Rupantaran aur Sant Guru Ravidas, Begumpura, Kathauti mein Ganga, and Jab Tak Jaat Na Jaat, on Sant Guru Ravidas, which are equally valuable for scholars to develop a deep understanding of Sant Raidas.
As a close associate of renowned Dalit thinker Chandra Bhan Prasad, Dr. Paswan is working on several Dalit centric issues e.g. ‘Dalit Entrepreneurship’, ‘Dalit Capitalism’, and ‘The Impact of Globalization on Dalits’, etc. for the last 10 years. Dr. Rajesh Paswan has also edited the weekly column titled Daliton ki Samasyayen’ penned by prominent Dalit thinker Chandra Bhan Prasad, for Dainik Rashtreey Sahara.
To fulfill his social obligations and commitments Dr. Paswan has served as a member of the Steering Committee in the Social Justice and Social Welfare Division, (2009-2014) of the Planning Commission of India.
He has also been a member of the affirmative action committee of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Currently, Dr. Paswan is working as an unpaid advisor of Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pune.

Manish Chandra, a former research associate in ICSSR sponsored major research project and the executive editor of Bahishkrit Bharat news portal has earned his M.Phil degree from the prestigious Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, Banaras Hindu University with a distinction grade. He has written and edited more than thirteen books, and nearly eight dozen articles for various journals, magazines as well as news portals. As a social science scholar, Mr Chandra has participated and presented his research papers in more than three dozen International and National seminars, capacity building programmes, workshops and symposiums. Manish Chandra has also been a member of organising committees in several seminars and symposiums. For his unabated commitment to social justice and communal harmony, he has been awarded Social Harmony Award in a programme sponsored by National Foundation for Communal Harmony (An autonomous organization under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India). Mr Chandra is also associated with several premier academic bodies and research societies including the Indian Sociological Society, Indian Society of Gandhian Studies and Human Empowerment and Research Society.
